Shabbat Shalom

Another ordinary week has come and gone in southern Israel. Bombarded by rockets from Hamastan in Gaza, residents of Sderot, Ashkelon and nearby towns watched as their national leaders conducted negotiations by proxy with Hamas to release hundreds of terrorists in Israeli jails and consolidate Hamas’s weapons supply lines by suspending Israeli counter-terror operations during a “cease-fire.” Between trips to the local bomb shelter, they watched Israeli trucks deliver fuel and supplies to Hamas in Gaza in the morning and they watched Hamas store the fuel and supplies in depots near the border in the afternoon. In the evening they watched news reports echoing Hamas’s claims that Israel is depriving Gazan hospitals of fuel and Gazan civilians of basic foodstuffs.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton: two distinct kinds of Euros

A striking characterization by Caroline Glick, just found in the Jerusalem Post Online Edition:

[…] how will a President Hillary Clinton or a President Barack Obama respond after being shown that appeasement of the Palestinians has once again failed and that appeasement or deterrence of the Iranian regime has also failed once again? Given their distinct emotional makeup, it can be assumed that Obama will argue that reality is wrong and continue on – Carter-like – into the abyss and drag his country and Israel down with him. Acting in a Clinton-like way, Clinton on the other hand, would be more likely to pick a fight with Serbia – or call for a federal ban on chewing tobacco in a bid to change the subject.

Hat der Iran kein Atombombenprogramm mehr?

Will Ahmadinedschad Israel nicht mehr vernichten?

Doch.

A: Keine Frage, jederzeit.

A fresh European recommendation on “the way journalism should be practiced”

has just been posted under the category “Europe and the world” of A fistful of Euros – European Opinion.

There, the author lauds a Dutch video “on Iran” that

shows normal people instead of foaming-at-the-mouth politicians or clergy. Watch, for instance, the Iranian skaters. What a familiar sight they are to our Western eyes. I also have to mention that this video is NOT apologetic of the Iranian regime. A good journalist simply needs to show, as best he can, the diverse reality on the ground […].

That’s right, journalists should always stick as closely as possible to the “diverse reality on the ground”, for the diverse reality above it, like here:

Iran hangings

is in most cases not elevating enough for shaping unapologetic European opinions. Even if the hoists may have been made in Italy.

Watch, for instance, the Iranian skaters in the background instead. Yes, there! under the tree!… All in all, quite a familiar sight, n’est-ce pas?

I missili palestinesi cadono sui centri commerciali, sugli ospedali, sulle scuole e sugli obiettivi civili in Israele, e Hamas si rivolge direttamente agli ebrei.

Auschwitz was sufficiently far away…

said Adorno, so the cries could not be heard by “normal” Germans. Our history teacher at secondary school even stated that “we could not know what happened behind those fences for they were just too high to let us peer inside”. So we just had to believe that, and all the more because we were invited to the cookout in his garden also for the coming weekend. Therefore, only a poor sport with exceptionally good reasons would have been able to contradict him and the whole class.

Probably, as almost anybody was a Nazi back then, it was forbidden, under the Nazis, to read Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’, because he was a well-known Nazi! So the Nazis could not know what he and they were doing. Probably just like today, as nobody can really know that Ahmadinejad is promising the Jews openly and on a regular basis the same thing, and is not just preparing to make his dirty promise come true using nuclear bombs, but has been trying to achieve that goal, along with the Iranian mullahs and many other anti-imperialists and peace-loving people, already for a long time by different means, e.g. by the recent (Hizbullah) Lebanon war.

Linksitalienische Nachlässig- bzw. Gründlichkeiten

Sanktionen ohne Sanktionen.

“Neo-Nazis against ‘Jew Rally in Vienna'”

Neo-Nazis against “Jew Rally in Vienna”

The rally on the occasion of the impending Iranian atomic armament planned for September 30th drew the ire of Neo-Nazis: On the “Heimatschutz” (homeland protection) forum – a forum associated with the “Bund Freier Jugend” (BFJ – Alliance of Free Youth) – a certain “Heimdall” calls attention to the rally in a message titled “Judendemo in Wien” (Jew Rally in Vienna). A user under the revealing nickname “Brandsatz” (incendiary device) asks whether “countermeasures” should be taken. “Heimdall” then proposes to “unpack the Palestinian scarfs and support the anti-imperialists”.
