La dolorosa verità è che l’obiettivo di Obama non è mai stato quello di impedire che Teheran si procuri l’arma nucleare. Tutta la sua strategia delle “sanzioni-se-il-coinvolgimento-fallisce” non è altro che un espediente. L’amministrazione Obama non ha mai avuto l’intenzione di imporre sanzioni pungenti sull’Iran. Come un autorevole funzionario dell’amministrazione ha detto al New York Times, lo scopo dei discorsi sulle sanzioni è quello di persuadere gli iraniani a negoziare. Nelle sue parole: “Si tratta di riportarli ai negoziati, poiché il vero scopo è quello di evitare la guerra.”
Capito? Per quanto concerne Obama, un Iran con armi atomiche non è la preoccupazione principale. La preoccupazione principale è che Israele potrebbe usare la forza per impedire che Teheran si procuri armi nucleari.*

Per rendere possibile il facile trionfo di Hezbollah era necessario che moltissime forze voltassero le spalle alle forze democratiche del Libano. Era necessario che moltissimi attori facessero finta di non vedere il riarmo di Hezbollah finanziato dall’Iran e dalla Siria durante gli ultimi due anni. Era necessario che moltissimi attori ignorassero e, con ciò, esacerbassero le debolezze interne del movimento del 14 marzo e del governo Siniora da esso creato. Era necessario che moltissimi paesi ed organizzazioni internazionali accettassero la finzione che l’esercito libanese ricevesse i suoi ordini dal governo libanese eletto.
La liberazione del senso di giustizia del popolo porta quasi necessariamente ai pogrom, alla disintegrazione della società capitalistica in bande divise secondo criteri etnici o produttivi, le quali si scaglieranno le une contro le altre nella guerra civile finché una coalizione di bande non ne riporterà la vittoria, vittoria da cui sorgerà un regime del terrore che fino alla guerra civile successiva farà ogni sforzo possibile per mantenere il suo dominio con il sangue e il populismo.

Coloro che intendono condurre un dialogo e fare affari con loro portano avanti lo stesso appeasement che un tempo favorì in Europa la più grande guerra sterminatrice della Storia.
